Notes
We know Ella May Davidson from the collection of over 500 amateur images she left us which show the region between 1910 and 1920, but here is a professional cabinet card showing her circa 1890. The note on the reverse says, “Ella May when she was about 20. Born Aug 5, 1870.”

Hi Ella May. So nice to meet you in your younger days. I am a fan of your photography. I can tell that your family is important to you with your photos of happy gatherings. I can also tell that you love the Hood River area. You have given us an insight to what the area looked like in your day.
My power just went out so I am going to post this now.

And we know she loved the snow!

Arthur, I had to chuckle as my power blipped off in this snow storm. Ella May would have spent part of her life without power. And I am sure she dealt with many a snow storm.
This is my favorite photo of her.

To me, it is so descriptive of “every day life in the Hood”.

Very nice photo of Ella May. Was she the first generation of Davidson's..? There (Davidson) home and barn (burned down) is above my home. The city bought that property, and will develop. But Donna Davidson grew up it that house (long gone now) above me, she once told me. Donna use to live in town and had two (or three) growing kids….., she worked at Columbia River Bank for awhile, but that was twenty some years ago. I think Donna was third generation (maybe fourth) Davidson. Anybody know how many generations of Davidson's there are, and if any are left in Hood River. Donna has moved away I'm sure…..!

I am in search of an electronic scan of the photo of Oak Grove School students in 1911 photo on page 30 of the book Images of America Hood RIver Connie Nice and Arthur. My father Sulo Annala is pictured in that photo as well as multiple Annala relatives and Hukaris.

I am also interested in a scan of Roger Thomas, my cousin in the pet parade with his wagon.

James, Charles Davidson was father to Ella May and Horatio Davidson. Charles had a brother Jesse who was also in Hood River, so there were two Davidson lines in the valley. I think it's fair to say Ella May was the second generation of the Davidson family in Hood River.

This was probably taken in Ohio. This would be about 1890 and I don’t think Ella May came to HR until after 1900.
