Historic Hood River
“Varied Learning Environment”

Notes
It seems like every generation of children gets subjected to new theories of education. This display very much reflects the views of the 1970’s, when the Westside Elementary School was brand new. The colors and the words scream “1970s”. I’m pretty sure the stated objective “To free the learner in becoming a progressively more rational decision making individual” firmly anchors this image in its time.

My husband started teaching in 1970. There were big changes in education and schools about that time. It focused more on “what the student wants”.
Such as smoking areas for students.
