Sometimes I like seeing the original pair of stereo images. Circa 1900 Frank Patterson captured a series of local images. Many of them include the same young girl, who gives both a sense of scale and humanity.

Up the west fork of Hood River and appears to be higher than 75'

@Nellie, Dead Point Falls drops into the West fork of the Hood River, Dee area, just below the mighty Punchbowl Falls. Dead Point Creek drainage area is the east southeast side of Mt. Defiance. I do believe the creek waters are used for an old fish hatchery just beyond the bridge over the west fork branch of the Hood River. This fish hatchery is now defunct, but the concrete tanks are still there.

Does one wonder if years ago, someone fell, lost there life there, so the naming of that creek was obvious, Dead Point……!

Glad you asked the question, James. As usual Lewis McArthur has an answer in “Oregon Geographic Names.” We have Green Point Creek and Dead Point Creek, one of which “rises on a point covered with green timber” and the other on a point with dead timber (I'll let you figure out which is which). Dead Point Falls is on Dead Point Creek.
