Historic Hood River
Calkins Clan

Notes
This image of the Calkins family at their Frankton district home has some good clear identifications, even though the image itself is blurry. The one-legged man is Civil War veteran Edward D. Calkins, with his wife Sarah Coates Calkins seated to the right, and Edna Garrabrant Calkins, bride of Calkins’ son Tom, to the left. Where was Tom? My guess he was taking the picture.
The image is dated “circa 1903” which is when Tom and Edna were married.
This 1888 image of the family at the same farm was discussed in great detail way back in the first “season” of Historic Hood River. Here’s another view of the same farm. And here’s the house near this farm where Tom and Edna would soon live.
