Laraway Home Setting

We’ve seen a couple of views of the Laraway home at 214 Front Street, but this one offers a nice perspective. You can see the cupola of the Mt. Hood Hotel at Cascade and First off to the right. Front Street has not yet been paved, though it was shortly after Laraway purchased the Marmon automobile we see in his driveway. That would date the picture very close to 1913.

That street looks like a muddy mess.
I hope someone put the upstairs window screen back, before the wind blew it away.
It looks so much quieter than the same scene today.

Goes to show when you build with good lines the structure will last –
one hundred 10 years and counting. Built the same year as Hood River’s
library.
Do we have any designated "catalog houses" as in Sears and Roebuck?
