This is how it’s supposed to be done: Back in April, 2000 our very own Charlott inscribed a legend on the reverse of this wonderful winter scene. She wrote,
Home of William Berrian Clark, son of Lucius and Ada (Berrian) Clark. Built in 1918-1919 at the corner of Fir Mtn. Road and Wells Drive, Pine Grove District.
In 1946 this home and orchard was sold to Bills’ nephew Harold M. Wells. Picture was taken winter 1950.
I can even read the handwriting. I bet Charlott would have geotagged it if that had been available in 2000.

Home Sweet Home………..The correction is: Harold M. Wells, my father bought this house and orchard from his uncle William "Bill" Clark. Bill was my grandmother Wells younger brother.
My father built all the rock walls and a huge patio next to the creek in the late 1940’s and 1950′. Many a picnic and family reunion was held on that patio, with kids playing in the creek that at one time had a dam in it, so the water would back up.
My mother planted that red wood (Sequoia) when it was just a tiny seedling.
Believe it or not I have skiied off the roof of that house when the snow was 5 feet deep and Dad had to shovel, so it was piled up to the eves.
My father loved his flowers, especially his dahlias and always had a wonderful flower garden on the opposite side of the creek to the house.
Such a wonderful growing up we had on this ranch and in that creek.
It is still in the family, as after the death of my mother my nephew and his late wife bought it.

Thanks Charlott, I corrected my typo. The text reads, "Bill’s nephew" not "Well’s nephew."
It certainly looks like a great place to grow up.

sure, love the snow…..growing up one of my memories is shoveling out the mouth of the driveway on Belmont only to have the road plow bury it again.
