Historic Hood River
Who Built It?
1-7-2022

Notes
As a follow up on last week’s great view of Tooth Rock viaduct on the Columbia River Highway, here’s a fine view of the workers and the animals who built it. This image is dated July 20, 1915. Courtesy of our friends at ODOT. I’m always impressed at what people could build with the technology they had at hand.

One of my favorite images here so far.

Looks like 2 pairs of white mules at the end of the line. Rare.

I see the “end of the trail”.
The animals look in good shape, but I don't think there was a lot of grazing available in that area. They must have brought in feed for humans and animals by steamship.
I wonder where the work camps were set up for these projects.
