Notes

I was going to post this cabinet card just because it has such great character, but then I was able to read the very faint fountain pen on the reverse: “Olga 3 years 8 months/ Edna 2 years”. Here’s a good picture of them some two decades later.

So funny. Just about all of the Plog family photos are outdoor or sports scenes. They don't look happy being contained and dressed up.
In 1900 the Plogs were in Iowa but by 1910 they have moved to Hood River. The parents are from Germany.
Here is a description of where the family farm was located.

I think all of the family is buried in Idlewilde.
Olga was a teacher and coach in White Salmon for a while.

I love this photo, of my Great Aunts, my husband and I still live on the property in Harry and Emilys (Grandma and Grandpa's) house.

It is a cute photo, but if Olga could be heard she would have said, “I really don't like this dress”…..”can we be done now”…..

Is there a chance the finger Olga is holding out is smashed? It looks like it has a black mark on it. It might be throbbing, thus the lack of a smile.

These are my great aunts, also! I only knew Edna. I loved her and her brother, my grandfather, Louis Carl Plog. The dresses must be hand made by their mother, Henrietta Runge Plog, who was an expert seamstress. A lot of work went into this – including the hair-dos!
