It looks like Alva Day is documenting the installation of a new generator at the Powerdale plant on the Hood River. I like that the building has a little art deco ornament on it.
I wonder if they had removable roof sections, sliding hatches, or some other type of door system. Given the apparent weight of the unit, I would think they would want to set that generator straight down into position on top of the turbine. I would guess that is 10 tons or more with all of the copper and steel in a generator of that size.

Good point, Basaltgrouse. That’s actually the generator we see being installed, The shaft would connect to a turbine, which is the part with the blades pushed by the water stream. I’ll correct the text.

Too that the building is trashed now"¦ it was in good shape until not long ago"¦ I am pretty sure there are homeless people living in it now.
