It looks like Alva Day is documenting the installation of a new generator at the Powerdale plant on the Hood River. I like that the building has a little art deco ornament on it.

    I wonder if they had removable roof sections, sliding hatches, or some other type of door system. Given the apparent weight of the unit, I would think they would want to set that generator straight down into position on top of the turbine. I would guess that is 10 tons or more with all of the copper and steel in a generator of that size.

    Good point, Basaltgrouse. That's actually the generator we see being installed, The shaft would connect to a turbine, which is the part with the blades pushed by the water stream. I'll correct the text.

    Too that the building is trashed now… it was in good shape until not long ago… I am pretty sure there are homeless people living in it now.

    LIKE TO HAVE INFO ON THE RR BRIDGE AT POWERDALE, WAS IT CONSTRUCTED ON SITE OR MOVED IN FROM ELSEWHERE AS WITH SOME OTHERS
