I’m always impressed how much gear people managed to haul around with their old trucks. Alva Day and family are posing in front of their June Street house in August 1934. The small box says “Model B Hamilton Beach Combination Food Mixer.” The large crate says “Do not drop” and “no hooks” but is otherwise a mystery. Is this when they got a new electric range?
That pickup truck would probably fit in the bed of many of the pickups I see around town.

The last photo we saw with the family pickup loaded up, they were headed to Lost Lake.
I bet Alva could give a class on knot tying.
I am glad to see a power pole, front and center, of a family photo.

Who would that be on top the load? Did Alva have children?
Those concrete stones were a popular building material in that neighborhood.

Alva and Io did have children. I met his grandson Dennis, who it turns out was the one who gave the museum the wonderful box of 2500 negatives we've all been enjoying on HHR. He gave me an additional archive of material about 3 years ago, when he shared the story of Alva's moonshine hidden under the basement (or attic?) stairs.
