Historic Hood River
Habitat Restoration
5-11-2022

Notes
We have several images of Alva Day and members of the Game Protective Association working to create habitat for waterfowl. This is the boat full of bulbs, tubers, etc. for the plants they were putting in a marshy area.

Interesting. I guess those are potatoes? The rest, I don't know.
My dad leased land from the State Game Dept. for grazing cattle. Part of the deal was he had to plant crops for the birds. I spent summers hoeing corn. Not sure if the birds really cared if it was hoed or not.
Ducks will jump up and grab corn cobs and pull them down to the ground.
I have seen swans root around in the mud for tubers.

Alva Day was a man who didn't stand still waiting for someone else to do it.
I admire him for all the things he accomplished as well as all the pictures he took.
