Notes
Pansy DeWitt’s notes on this image:
Left to right: Mrs Rutledge our pro’s wife- self- Mrs Hamilton and our two popular Beau Brummels Messrs Cedarwall and Green. Harry was busy having his picture taken just to the right.
You don’t hear the reference to “Beau Brummel” much anymore so I’ll include a reference.

I do know that the Mrs. Rutledge was Shirley May (Sherman) Rutledge and her husband was Richard Rutledge. As to the rest I am not familiar.
Golf has always been an important part of a lot of people's lives. I am wonder if this is taken over where the original golf coarse was on Phelp's Creek.
Also wondering if some of these folks are not in that photo here of a couple of weeks ago that Pansy had at the summer house?
I think Pansy is someone I would have loved to have met.

The ladies appear to be wearing neckties – was this the country club fashion of the day?
nels
One lady has cleats on her shoes so she must be playing also.

Nellie, can you amplify on your comment about the original course on Phelp's Creek? Are you talking about the one that is still there on County Cub Road, or was there an earlier course?

Here's a September 1922 article on the opening of the new 9 hole golf course:

Nellie
The one that is there now. Never heard of any others.

And here's an October 1922 article on the planning for Country Club Drive:

Another article shows Harry DeWitt as a member of the club's “Allied sports” committee. I suspect he promoted tennis.
