Notes
We saw a view of Dale Haskin’s Mt. Hood Ranch once before. The caption explains they had 100 pens with Oregon Silver-Black Foxes at Mt. Hood, and 75 more pens near Newburg Oregon. This image is titled “Hood River Nap.” This set of images was donated by Mrs. Charles (Vilate) Jackson. Click through to the earlier image for some very interesting history and comments.

Was Vilate Jackson the one who donated the land between 12th and 18th St.
which has become the 13th street expansion, the park, the baseball field, and the swimming pool?
Melody Shellman
I believe she only donated the land for Jackson Park, as the rest of the land you mention was gravel pit. But I could be wrong.

Wonder where one could get more information on that? Either way that was a
wonderful gift to the community.

Are you speaking of the gravel pit to the south of the Mormon Church, or was there a gravel pit to the north of Taylor St? It would have to have been filled in from the looks of that. But the soil north of Taylor St does not look like fill.
Melody Shellman
I believe there was a gravel pit where the baseball field/tennis courts are now, separate from the one where public works is.
