The perfection of this Laraway portrait of mother and child competes with the perfection of that classic baby buggy. Even the buggy’s suspension is a work of art.
Great sharp image. The woman has some kind of covering on her hat…what is it? Is it some type of rain covering?

What a beautifully detailed photo. I assume this is Adah Permelia Hunt Laraway. Wife of WF Laraway. Their children were born 1872, 1875, 1878 and 1896.
This photo had me looking into the history of baby carriages, which is fascinating. In 1899 African American W.H. Richardson invented the reversible carriage so the baby could face forward, or you could pivot the basket so the baby was facing the person pushing the pram.

Looking at this photo, that is definitely Ida Laraway. Could today’s picture have been before move to Hood River and baby in carriage same boy? Wonderful details of both clothing and baby carriage.

Yes, this could be in Iowa.

What is that on the handle on the left? A bell maybe?
ArthurB
Rico, I think it’s a clamp for a sun shade.
