Frozen Fountains

Jack Wilson took a series of images of the “frozen fountains” formed by breaks in the wooden flume carrying water from the Powerdale Dam to the power station on the lower Hood River. They are dated February 1950. If you look closely you can see the houses in Hood River above Indian Creek.

Thanks for pointing out the houses on the cliff. The one story house at the right is where I grew up.

Yes, my Dad took slides of all up and down the Hood River where the water was frozen on everything. They are beautiful.
Jack Wilson and his wife Hennie owned and operated Columbia Photo Supply and had the camera club, which my father was a member of. Used to take field trips and I recall one to Eagle Creek down there by Bonneville. It was on that trip I met a wonderful life long friend, Judy (Mohr) Dehart, as her grandmother, Katherine Mohr was a member and after Judy’s mother died she lived with her grandmother for a time.
