Here’s a Unitarian church picnic at J.F. Miller’s ranch, circa 1912. That looks like Ezra Smith grabbing a cherry.
I initially thought the kids were all holding hot dogs on sticks, but maybe those are cattails?

Yep, looks like cattails. Must be a pond on the Miller ranch.
Since there is a flag flying, perhaps a July 4th gathering?
I think Miller was a surveyor.
