Notes

This “Real Photo Postcard” is from Pansy DeWitt’s collection. I suspect she was hosting the party given her position in the front row. We have a list of almost all those present, though her flowing handwriting makes it difficult to figure out some of the names.

Front Row: Irene Bancroft, Pansy DeWitt, Mary Knight, Lulu(?) Mortimer, Constance Henderson, Miss ____, Mrs. Bancroft.

2nd Row: Mrs. Knight, Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. Marjorit(?), Mrs. Walface (?), Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Haworth (?), Mrs. Palmier (?), Mrs. Birge.

3rd Row: Mrs. Mortimer, Mrs. Butterfield, ?

Back Row: Mrs. Henry, Mrs. Van Horn, Mrs. Pate (?) Davidson, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Vaughan, Mrs. Gibbons.

Check out that pocket watch on a long chain worn by Mrs. Davidson in the back row.

Possibly Irene Bancroft is displaying an engagement ring?
In the October 13, 1910 HR Glacier, Miss Irene Bancroft weds Leonard Armstrong. They left for a honeymoon on the private car of Mr. Armstrong Sr., who is president of the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad. They will return to HR to be on Mr. Armstrong's ranch in the valley.

Pansy appears to be willing the dog to sit, or at least to not bite the photographer.

An interesting exchange going on between the 3rd and 7th person in row 2.

And others caught up in the humor of the exchange.

This is a wonderful group photo. My first thought was that they look as though they are alive! I have taken many a group photo to be used in a newspaper, and my editors would sometimes say, “That's just a picture of somebody having their picture taken!” Whoever took this photo knew the difference.
