Historic Hood River
Benson Hotel
5-2-2017

Notes
Here’s a 1920 blueprint of the south elevation of the Benson Hotel, which we now know as the Columbia Gorge Hotel. We have a full set of drawings showing all the interior detail. Unfortunately they are a little hard to read at this scale so I’ll just share this view.

I don’t know if Simon Benson wanted the Spanish Mission style, but it is not what I would envision for a Hood River setting.
Probably why I don’t build beautiful Hotels, overlooking the Columbia River.
Arlen Sheldrake
an absolutely amazing living piece of Columbia river Gorge history…..past time for another overnighter.

I miss the Columbia Gorge Hotel and the "honey from the sky" breakfast biscuits. And that view!!!

As I am the new GM of the hotel, I would love to see the drawings of the interiors in whichever state they are…
We are planning a renovation of the interiors and these drawings would definitely be handy.
Is there a way to get copies?
Thanks.
