Historic Hood River
Barn

Notes
This nice barn image is from the album of images Benjamin Gifford took for the Hood River Commercial Club circa 1910. They were promoting Hood River agriculture to prospective orchardists from around the country who might be interested in moving to the Hood River Valley to try their hand at apple farming.

this picture reminds me of a cherish book from my Mother Lois. The Guardians of the Columbia by John H. Williams, published in 1912 that was given to her parents, Della & Purl Sheirbon, to entice them to move from Iowa to HR. Which they did in 1921 to Odell. This hardbound book is also cherished by her son.

And does anyone know where this barn may have been located or is located?

It feels like the east side to me. I’ll guess Pine Grove area, but I don’t have any solid evidence.

This kind of reminds me of one on Glass road just of Hwy 35…

First of all this is not the barn on Glass Road. Growing up in Pine Grove I have never seen one that looks like this., but then it could have been long gone before my time. Need to ask Nick of Nicholas Photography, as he has been working with the old barns in Hood River. Maybe, if it is still around here, he might know where.
