Notes
The inscription on the front of this image says, “Dad & Mother & Bess- 9-25-21.” On the reverse in old ink it says, “For Jim and J. H., Carrie”. In newer ink someone has written “Harry H. Bailey, Carrie Bailey daughter-in-law about 1920.” Who wants to straighten this out? There are plenty of mentions of Harry Bailey and his family in the Glacier, but it’s one of those families where all the men are named some version of “Harry”.

Fluted columns and dentation are nice flourishes. Are there multiple porches? Any idea where this might be Arthur?

In the 1910 Census
Harry H. Bailey age 44 is married to Carrie J age 40. He is an electrician and they own a home on Prospect Ave in HR.
Sons Louis age 9 and Harold age 8.
By 1920, they are living in Portland on Morrison St.
Son Harold died in 1918 at age 16-17 in Portland.
Son Lewis married a Bessie in 1922. They later divorced.
In the 1930 and 1940 census, Lewis’s occupation is photographer.

In 1900, Harry, his brother Fred and his father Hosford Bailey are farmers in Hood River.
Father Hosford died in September 1913 in Hood River. His obituary says he had been a resident for 19 years.

Harry looks lie a belt and suspenders type.

Def in my top 10 HHR photos. Something in the faces reminds me of my own travails being on both sides of that age equation as kid and parent.
