Notes
This snowy view of Oak Street was taken in 1902 by L. Bradley. On the south side of the street we can see most of the shop signs– Paris Fair, Groceries, S.E. Bartmess Furniture, Printing, Millinery, Dry Goods, Boots. On the north side I can only make out a “Clearance Sale Now” at what I think is Crams clothing store, and a shingle for Dr. Watt, possibly a dentist. Telephones must have been very popular based on the number of lines on the poles.

Good Day to stay at home… but we can see a few hearty souls have been out in their wagons..Once again we have a good shot of the Oak trees right in the middle of the street. I assume the tall poles on the right side of the street are street lights.
Probably an after Christmas sale going on..

Looks like maybe it is warming up and chunks of snow are falling off of the tree. No going out and warming up the car before you go to town.
Hitch up the team with a cold ride in the fresh air.

The first street light were hung diagonally across intersections. I think they were still a year or two away in 1902. I’ve been researching this in old city records recently. The earliest electric lighting bills I’ve found so far are 1904. There’s a post on this coming up, hopefully with a more definitive answer.
