I’ve browsed past this image dozens of times without realizing what Alva Day was photographing. This image is dated December 23, 1933, and something’s caused a serious structural failure of this bridge. I suspect Alva Day was here with his crew to repair those power lines which have also been damaged. Other Alva Day images from the same period indicate a serious ice storm and river flooding.
My guess is this is the bridge on Woodworth Road which we’ve seen before. If I am correct, then it must have been rebuilt since some of you remember seeing it in the 1950s.

I would have loved to have seen this bridge. I’ve always been curious about where the road ran in relation to it’s current location going up the hill. Can anybody enlighten me?

Kalley
My Mom was born on December 18th, 1933 in Woodland WA. There was a big flood there. She and her Mom were rescued out of the maternity home by rowboat by her Dad John Merz. Later three of the 12 Merz siblings moved to Parkdale. They were John , Lew and Kenny.

The Woodward Bridge was still there in 1959. It was right off the drive of a friend of mine.
