As a follow on to yesterday’s image of Odell High School, here is Olga Plog with the women’s basketball team of 1923-24. Olga was their coach. She also taught elementary school in Odell.

With a mother who talked some about her days of playing BB for Odell High School, I have always wondered why most sports for women went away from high school by the time I got there in the 50s,. (glad they are back!) Roger, what year did Mom graduate?

Based on articles in the Glacier, it seems like basketball was the major team sport at Odell High School in this era.

My mom graduated in 1939 or 1940 and girls basketball was an important program. When I was in high school in the 1960's we had no competitive girl's programs. I have heard it had something to do with the war, but I don't know why.
