Historic Hood River
Summer Vacation
5-23-2016

Notes
Herb Scobee wrote that this was a summer vacation with his father, E.L. Scobee in central Oregon. The fine motorcar is a “Winton.” Winton Motor Carriage Company manufactured automobiles from 1897 until 1924. Is that South Sister in the background?

I would say Mt. Bachelor.

OrMtnMaid seems as knowledgeable as Charlott when it comes to Oregon history so I will go with her guess.
I’ll place a bet that the meadow is now grown up with trees.

If anyone has Google Earth, fly to Todd Lake near Mt. Bachelor. I believe this to be the meadow near the lake. A person by the name of Brian More took a photo that is near where I believe this photo was taken.
Hiking is my game and I know my mountains!

I live in Central Oregon and yes, it is Mt Bachelor.

Come now, that is South Sister as seen from Sparks Meadow. Notice the obvious Devils Garden lava flow seen in every photo from Sparks Lake. Simply Google Sparks Lake and you’ll see hundreds of photos of South Sister from a similar angle.
