Historic Hood River
Out For a Drive
5-11-2016

Notes
This is one of the earlier images from the Alva Day collection. I can’t quite make out the year on the plate, but it’s between 1915 and 1919. I think this is a pretty good representation of roads in the Hood River valley in that era, at least in the summertime. It must have been fun cruising in the Model T, until you ran into someone else.

Wondering if this might not be heading to Lost Lake?
Kenn
What a great picture, I can hear the car, feel the road.and smell the woods.
Tom Kloster
Great photo! Based on the years, I’ll vote for Cloud Cap Road, somewhere below Inspiration Point.
Arlen Sheldrake
is that a dog driving?

Looks like a recently opened road. What year were the roads to Cloud Cap and Lost Lake put in?
Charlott
The old wagon road to Cloud Cap was put in well before this photo, but it took a different route than the current one.
Kenn
Part of the old cloud cap road is now ski trail, an interesting hike.
