Here’s the 1913 meeting of the Hood River Pioneer’s Society at the Riverside Church on State Street. How many of these old-timers can you identify?

Just think of all the history these people could convey. How many Civil War veterans were within this group?
There is one gentleman that I would make a guess as to who it might be. The man standing next to the one with the two canes could be Hans Lage.
There is one woman that keeps drawing me back to. I just don’t know for sure. The woman peeking through just behind the woman with the deep necked white blouse, most certainly looks like my great-aunt. She is a dead ringer for her, but I don’t think Aunt Maggie would have been that old. I would think that this woman was older than 26, for that is what Aunt Maggie would have been. I just don’t know………There is that outside chance that it is my great-grandmother, but I wouldn’t bet money on it.
There are a couple of other men that look familiar, but can’t put a name to them.

Well, I thought Samuel Blythe would be easy to pick out, but, not so.
I am going to guess he is the gentleman at the center back.
And E. L. Smith the gentleman second from the right.
Those are the only two names I can think of off the top of my head.
There must be Coes and Davidsons.
I wonder if they wrote down their stories at this meeting?

Samuel Blythe is the gentleman with the long beard under the rightmost window.

I’ve been working on an article on Newton Clark and am quite certain that I’ve spotted him in this photo. He’s in the front row under the left pane of the window on the right, wearing a bow tie. I believe that is his wife, Mary Clark, standing behind him and looking over his right shoulder.
