Historic Hood River
Mason Chicken Coop
4-21-2026

Notes
It looks like there’s a new brood of chicks in the pen at the Mason orchard. Circa 1905. I believe that’s Hattie Joy Mason checking on the hatchlings. The building seems to be constructed from wood and canvas. You can see some “modern” chicken wire attached to the poles forming the pen.

Interesting building. If that is the chicken coop, it seems a bit open to predators.
It does have a great view.

LE, agreed it’s not 100% clear the structure is a chicken coop. The small sheds to the right could be the coop, but they look awfully small for this many chickens.
