Historic Hood River
White River Picnic Area
4-1-2024

Notes
This image of a picnic area at the White River along the Mt. Hood Loop Highway comes from the Dr. Ruth (Hanna) Barnett collection. I can’t quite sort out the generations, but I believe Ruth and her mother are in this view, possibly with her daughter.
I wonder if this picnic area is where the Boy Scout Camp is today?

How about the Loop Highway.

I love the flapper fashions! There are a couple postcard images of this picnic site, including a souvenir stand that was once located here (presumably with Forest Service approval). This was in the era when the first White River bridge was built of logs… the first of many swept away over the decades!

Oops, thanks. I got the right tags but will fix the text when I have a chance.
