Notes

You can see the care W.F. Laraway took with his photography in this portrait of his daughter, “Debbie” (Cora Etta) and her husband Will Cooper. I believe this image predates the family’s move from Glenwood, Iowa to Hood River, Oregon. They were married in Glenwood in 1896.

We have an Anne Lang negative from the same era where she also uses an umbrella for artistic effect. I wonder if there was a popular book or magazine of the era helping set the trends.

What a clear photo. And a happy one. Starts the day off with a smile. Makes me think of the word canoodle.
I wonder if she ever told him to take that stinky cigar out of his mouth.

This could be used as an ad today. “Hood River Is For Lovers.” I see he was a Mason. And boy does that look like an iPhone in her right hand.

Pretty cool too that she had a cell phone way back then.

Looks like the bench was placed in such a way as to be a great backdrop and hide what looks to be a trash pile in the background. Lovely shot except for the cigar.

A photo we have already seen, but it also makes you smile. Their daughter with her dog:
