Notes
This is the corner of 3rd and Cascade before Harry Dewitt built his “Ford garage” (now Columbia Center For the Arts). Notes on reverse say this is “about 1908” but that’s not likely. The car is later, and there would not have been enough business for a service station like this prior to about 1915 when the Columbia River Highway reached Hood River. I believe Dewitt’s building was constructed about 1918, so this is probably shortly before.

Nice to know that the Hotel Oregon had a ladies rest room.

Have the verandas not been added, or have they been removed?

L.E., the verandas overhanging the sidewalk have been removed. I believe the city forced them to removed about the time they were paving the streets (1913-15). I know there was a lawsuit and it had something to do with unlawful use of the public right-of-way, but I don’t know the details.
Longshot
Looks like a couple of empty store fronts on 3rd Street. Several of the buildings look to have had shed roofs that stuck out from the front of the buildings removed.

Not that this is all that important, but looking at other photos, the bakery, which is a white building stands out. It is in photo #133, and #1012. https://www.hoodriverhistorymuseum.org?showimage=1012 and #1366 https://www.hoodriverhistorymuseum.org?showimage=1366.
Those photos are probably around 1910.
Is the old building on this end, the bakery, or is the bakery gone?
