Historic Hood River
Still Life with Crates
5-16-2016

Notes
I really like this one, for no particular reason. There are several other versions of this with Horatio Davidson posing stiffly with his fruit crates, but I prefer this version with nothing but the barn, the crates, and the automobile hiding in the shadows. Circa 1915.

My guess the way they are stacked they have probably been made in that barn and are ready for use. They would be stacked different if they were full.
He, whoever he was, needs to use some of that stacked up lumber to shore up the end of that building. Appears not to have any foundation.
Thank you Pattison’s for wonderful Crag Rat presentation at the museum yesterday afternoon. All H. R. history buffs should have seen it.

Did anyone record the presentation by the Pattisons?

So…if the photo was taken around 1915, I wonder how old the building is.
It kind of looks to me like a flood went through there.
