Historic Hood River
Stanley Smith Belmont Planer

Notes
I love these panoramas, but they don’t work so well in this format. I’ve thrown in a few details so you can meet these guys up close.
This Slocom image of the crew at the Stanley Smith Lumber Company planing mill at the Belmont District was taken in 1912. We have lots of images related to this operation, so check them out if you’re interested. As I understand it this mill was fed by flume with wood from the Greenpoint mill, and it would continue beyond here to the Ruthton mill.

Any ballpark idea where this mill would be located? I don't know where the Belmont District's boundaries were.

It seems like Belmont would have been a great place to work compared to being up at Greenpoint.
I wonder if they could put planed lumber back onto the flume to send it down to Ruthton.

Kyle, if you click on Arthur's link, there is a photo of a map.
