Fortunately we have some photos of schools that are less than 100 years old. This is the Pine Grove School in 1994. Do those swing sets bring back memories?
the swings were not in that location when I went to school. However, I recall many cool drinks from the water fountain on the left side there. The bell was in the right hand side cupalo and one sure way to get a trip to the office was pull the rope that was in the hallwlay. There were those that periodically just could not resist.
When I went to school the cafeteria was those basement windows. Went to the 5th grade, teacher Mrs. Grames up in the right hand bank of windows. Went to the 6th grade in Mr. Mays room on the left side bank of windows.
We played a lot between the pillars, as that made ideal beds for dolls and hospital care.

Well gee whiz….is Charlott the only one that went to school there? I am waiting for more memories.

In other words, the school had not changed much in the 1994 picture?
Charlott
The actual structure has not changed. In this photo the color of the building is not what it was when I went to school there. It was a creamy beige then.
One thing I could never understand about was why the cross type indentations. Sadly this school ceased to be a school per say and I have noticed that the upkeep is not what it was and should be.

I attended Pine Grove from 2006 til 2011. When i arrived there the swing set was right where they are in the photograph. Mrs.Ewald’s room was in the right side, and the other side was the instructional assistance room..man i miss those days when we planted lots of types of plants in front of the entrance…
