    Looks like Little Ralph may have given too much lip to the conductor, given the color of his eye…

    Given the range of ages in the band, I assume this was a community band, not a school band. Looks to me like they are a little heavy on the brass section.

    I believe the “Sava” is actually Savo- family lived on Reed rd across from the W end of Kenwood Drive. Charlie was killed in action during WW2.

    My sympathies lie with the clarinetist…. I’m sure that he was never heard.

    It is Charlie Savo, not Sava, Hukari is correct. He wasn't KIA in WW2, his son Viljo Albert was. His other son, Charles Edward, survived Guadalcanal. He was my Grandfather. This photo was a delight to find!
