Notes

After the Waterfront Park was dedicated in 2008, work began on the children’s play area. This photo is from April 2009. The climbing wall is one of the key attractions, where many an aspiring young rock climber first meets the rock face.

How many of you have been to the top?

Fun to hit that park and climbing rock on weekends and watch dads amd moms and kids and grandparents interacting.

So many Portlanders strolling along there. Great job Port, on making the waterfront more usable. Baa Humbug on the parking maters. They have a terrible noxious weed problem that needs to be dealt with though.

The Waterfront Park was constructed by the City of Hood River on land donated by the Port of Hood River.

Parking meters are on Port owned streets, administered by the Port. The city does not currently meter parking on city streets at the waterfront, including the spots in front of the Waterfront Park.

The mix of jurisdictions and rules down at the waterfront can be very confusing. Example: the museum parking lot is partly owned by ODOT, partly by the Port of Hood River, leased to Hood River County for use by the museum, administered by the Heritage Council.
