We have so many great images of early logging in this county, but this one really grabbed my attention. This crew is using a steam donkey with boom to load logs west of Dee. According to photo notes, “hooks and guide ropes aid in placement of logs.”

Great photo Arthur. Any idea whose logging show or rail line this was? For future search purposes I would suggest also "tagging" as railroad, maybe also steam donkey.. Neat guy in the rain coat with ax, and the show off on the end of the boom……This may be the logging rail line that one can stilll see a trestle remains when heading to Lost Lake.

Beautiful photo. Just about every piece of logging equipment is shown, except for what is used to fall the logs and cut them to length.
The horses skid the logs in. The guy with the ax, and there is probably more than one, works the landing by chopping all of the limbs off of the trees.
That would have been a tough job.

The logging show and rail line would be Oregon Lumber Co. Wonder who the dapper guy is on the right end of the suspended log? It looks like the " steam donkey’ not sure that is correct term, maybe steam loader, is jacked up above the tracks.
