This image is part of a Crag Rats album of Bill Bryan and David Falconer images. Unfortunately it doesn’t have an attribution, but my guess is it’s Bill Bryan’s work. I suspect skiing with these guys wasn’t much fun if you didn’t want your photo to be taken. They burned a lot of film.

My guess is that this is a mountain climbing trip. Rest time laying down and face covered to help prevent sunburn. What do you think Bill?
For those of you who do not know who Dave Falconer was, He grew up in Portland where he attended Jefferson High. He had a passion for photography and eventually taught photojournalism at Portland State. He would go on to become a photographer for The Oregonian. In about 1978 he went to free lance. Suffering from heart problems and diabetes he died in 2014.

I grew up with cowboys, and often saw them pull their cowboy hat down over their face while they took a nap.
This guy has it figured out. The back of his head stays dry and warm while his face is shaded.
There must have been a lot of fun filled days of laughter up on that mountain.

Thanks for the David Falconer bio, Charlott. I forget when I introduce a new "character" to HHR I should give some background. We’ll see many David Falconer photos in future posts. He was very talented and documented many Mt. Hood expeditions.
