I’d say this arrangement of poles and wires triggered some thoughts from a man like Alva Day who seemed to do so many things and did them well

Isn’t haywire a term used for a light duty cable or wire rope that is easily strung and then used to pull a heavier cable or wire rope into position. Perhaps they are stringing a new piece of power line and Alva was interested in their method and tools used to get it strung on the poles.
