This image has a description which needs some translation. It says:
Harry Dewitt in 1904 taken by P.D. Rubber tires and red running gear– it compared with a “Cod” of today!! Orchard Road near Medford Reed’s place.
Today’s mystery: fill in the blanks and update the language so the rest of us can understand.

They sure don’t look like rubber tires do they?
The only thing I can solve, probably everyone else could figure out. The photo taken by P.D. is probably Pansy Dewitt.
Do you suppose Pansy and Harry were out for a Sunday drive?
The horse is what you would probably call a dapple gray.

Most buggys being black and this one with some fancy red wheels and hard rubber instead of steel meeting the road, maybe the description of this fancy buggy was written latter and it would be compared to a "Cad." or Cadillac car. which was always an upscale automobile. Pretty nice road for the day, flat, wide and well graded.

There really was a Medford Reed. He was born in 1892. In 1900 and 1910 he is living in the Portland area.
Not until 1917 is he listed as living in HR and in 1920 he is listed as living in the Barrett District as a farmer.
The description on the photo must have been added after 1904.
Jim gives a good description of a 1904 Studebaker buggy. Since 1902, Cadillac had been producing the horseless carriage.
