Historic Hood River
Domino Effect?

Notes
You’re probably getting familiar with this group of women from the Davidson collection photos. We know they like hats and they like to pose for the camera. What do you think they are carrying in those small boxes?
Ralph
Amateur ornithologist?
Charlott
Binoculars? Cameras? Collection of maps, so if they get lost? Look too small for lunches.
Certainly wish we could identify them, as it is obvious they enjoyed themselves.
Melanee
Are they representing something like Rose Fest? Each has a bouquet of roses.

I am going to guess the lady on the right is Ella Mae Davidson, based on #259.
But then, we don’t even know for sure if that is Ella Mae.
These ladies are definitely well dressed for some special occasion.
The Davidsons must have been a fun family. Getting those ladies to straddle the log would have provided plenty of laughs.

The older lady on the right looks like she’s sitting sidesaddle. What a scandalous lot of leg they are showing.
Esther Smith
I’m going to guess either some kind of collapsible cameras or field glasses. Binoculars have changed a lot over the years; seems like some of the old ones were pretty slim in design.
Woop – just did a search and found some with cases that look exactly like these. If I could I’d post the pic here.

I am wondering if the lady lying down, is the same lady in the reclining position in photo #30. One of our early Fun Friday photos.
Even more now, I wonder if she suffers from paralysis.
Seems like that wouldn’t be hard to find out in the Davidson history.

The lady on the left (lying down) has an Ansco #10 camera in that box.
The lady on the right seems to have a Kodak Autographic, probably a 3A
Lea
Those purse-like boxes are box cameras.
The second woman from the far right appears to be wearing an adult Girl Scout uniform. The others may be wearing parts of the adult uniform as well, but I cannot tell.
Kyle
Those are indeed cases for folding cameras, 6×9 format. And I’d add that the lady at far right is wearing her own camera in its case slung around her, but she is also holding the case for the one taking the photo in her left hand.
"Here, hold my case while I take the photo…"
