With July 4th just around the corner, it’s time for some more looks at holiday celebrations past. Doll buggy parades were apparently a staple of July 4th celebrations for many years. Here’s a view of the buggies as they passed the Paris Fair on Oak Street. Long time Hood River Glacier editor Samuel Blythe and his wife are viewing from the curb, in the middle of the crowd. Based on their age, the car, and the paved street, I’m dating this 1915- 1920. We saw another doll buggy parade view in one of the first HHR posts.

Look at those little girls dresses? Can you imagine ironing those, no thanks. Paris Fair all decked out, red, white and blue. i didn’t realize bow ties were in fashion in those days. Should put a group of little girls in one of ours, with their buggies and dollies.

The lady on Samuel Blythe’s right appears to have very dark skin?
And that group of ladies on his far left, resemble the Davidson hat ladies in a previous photo.
By the expression on the faces of the doll buggy pushers, either the wind is blowing, or they are struggling to push up hill. Or maybe they are staring into the hot sun.
