Notes

This is Pansy Travis Diskin and the other teachers at the Coe Primary School. Pansy Diskin is front and center. The best I can do for a date is “circa 1960”. Can anyone name some of the other teachers?

Arthur, the dress style above strikes me to be earlier in time as around 1950 vintage, based on my recollection of my grandmothers attire.

The woman in the second row, third from left, resembles Mrs. Frick. Was she a teacher there before becoming principal?

Someone’s not paying attention in class …

yep, 50s or late 40s…..sure is Mrs. Frick and Mrs. Diskin, Bill Seaton's teacher.

The life history of our principal Mrs. Frick is most interesting and lots of a challenges that she overcame. Looking forward fellow HRHS 59 classmates Norma and Bill's postings as this is a great picture.

My grandma (Mrs. Frick) was principal. She was a very kind and special person; she had quite a life! I still miss her a lot.

Looking forward to all the “old timer” memories and comments.

Teacher sitting down was Mrs. Yeck. My first grade class had so many substitute teachers for the year that I would not recognize any of them.

Susan….I have fond memories of your grandma Mrs. Frick and my early years growing up on Prospect…a street filled with good friends, Bill Frick, Pete and Norma Jubitz, and Bill Seaton….you come from GREAT stock.

Norma….Mrs. Yeck? Yeck hill relationship? you have a great memory Norma…..I don't have any recollection of my Coe teachers or classroom.

Well, Mrs. Diskin was my first grade teacher in 1947. Mrs Frick was the principal. I enjoyed that first year of school!
And thank you Norma, I recognized Mrs Yeck, but couldn't remember her name.

Perhaps back row second lady is Marg Fisher and seated lady is Marsha Yeck.

Looks like an early photo bomb, kid's face in second floor window.

I remember second grade teacher, sweet Mrs. Hansen who wore a fur coat to school and a braid wrapped around her head. Wonder if she is standing on Mrs. Frick's right? My first grade teacher was Miss Calendar, a young and pretty, and kind, woman in my six-year old eyes. Could she be the woman with an affectionate hand resting on her hip?

Somehow, while in second grade, I talked mother into allowing my little brother to accompany me to school, as my pet, on pet day. The aftermath allowed me to see the inside of Mrs. Frick's office where I received a stern reprimand for the folly. To this day I am amused by the stunt, and stung by the lack of humor in the adults. Properly admonished, that was the first and last time I was sent to the principle's office…
