Before there were specialized vehicles for every task the family car could haul just about anything. This automobile is hauling a cornucopia for an agricultural display at Koberg Beach.
That either came from a very, very large steer or someone used lots of paper mache. I can just imagine the excitement the child is feeling.

It seems common with these early vehicles to strap or tie items onto the driver’s running board which then requires the driver to climb over and out or exit on the passenger side?

Some cars of that era had fake doors anyway sometimes on one side and sometimes both so climbing over an added obstacle wouldn’t have been a big deal.
