Historic Hood River
Road Trip!

Notes
I know many of your spring break plans have been disrupted, so let’s spend a couple of days traveling around Oregon and Washington by automobile. On August 14, 1924 Olga Plog and friends set off on what must have been a very ambitious trip, heading to central then southern Oregon, then back up to Washington.
The photos in Olga’s album don’t make it clear who accompanied her on the trip, but I think it may be these five folks. I recognize Olga and Edna Plog, though I can’t tell you which is which. Maybe we’ll get some clues about the others as the week goes on.
And a head’s up– I will probably do a couple of photos a day for this virtual trip, trying to keep up with their frantic pace. Check in this afternoon to see where we’ll be spending the night.

This will be exciting!!
And warmer than this week.

I’m sure that the gal in the middle is their Mother, Henrietta and I’m pretty sure that the two men are their brothers, I think the one on the left would be Harry (my Grandpa), I would have to compare with pictures at home to confirm, (I think the one one the right would be Edna)

The blurry people are baffling to me. They look like they’re not in focus, but if you look at the trees behind them AND the car’s rear tire next to them that’s closer to us, they’re both crisp. That cannot be, if it were just a focus error. It’s not motion blur, either, because it’s not directional ("smeared" looking) and the leaves behind the aren’t blurred — you know those things never sit still around here. That leaves us maybe with something smudged on the lens, but it’s ONLY the people themselves that are blurry, not some general blurry blob area. I am baffled, unless Arthur blurred them out with Photoshop to hide their identities for some reason. 😊

Kyle, the focus is in front of the people. The trees are out of focus, but the "clarity" filter in Photoshop has accentuated the edges and gives the illusion of focus.
Cindy, I was wondering if one of the men (the one in the center rear) might be Olga’s future husband Harold Hague. The trip includes a visit to some of his relatives.

Arthur, Thats a good question, I will try to dig out some of the old family pictures and figure it out. I’m really looking forward to seeing ‘the rest of the trip’.
Thanks

Yes, the one in the middle is Henrietta. The one of the far left is the only one I don’t know. From the next left to right are: Olga, Harry, Henrietta, Louis and Edna Plog.
