This is not the usual view of the Mt. Hood Hotel. You can barely make out the grand cupola and the verandas which greeted people coming from the train station. From this angle it looks very plain.
The sign promises “Free Parking Space.” Apparently downtown parking was an issue even back then (circa 1915).

Charlott….this gives you a great view of those White Salmon hills that we discussed in the previous photo #267.
It isn’t the right angle, but you can see the rounded hill in front. A real clue, is the deep, open groove coming down from the top hill.
The view from WS put that rounded hill right in front of the highest hills.

Any idea what (and why) those three trucks are, parked in a row?

To much snow to tell what kind of truck, but no doubt parked near-by the train depot to haul freight, parking on the hill maybe a way to get them to start on a cold winter day using engine compression.

I am wondering if the "free parking" signs were not for the guests of the hotel or places for people to park who were meeting or leaving on the train.
Note the corner of Gerdde’s hotel/boarding house in the left corner.
I do see what you mean about the Washington hills.
