Who are these delinquents? Bill Seaton promises they are actually Explorer Scouts headed out for a hike from Wahtum Lake to Eagle Creek. From left to right, they are Ron Holloway, ?, Stuart Foster, Spike Goodwin, Arlen Sheldrake, and Gary Weber. Thanks to Bill Seaton for lending us the photos.

I am not certain, but I really think that the "delinquent" in the white shirt and stupid hat (which he was known to wear) is none other than my husband. I know there is quite a story about a scout trip up Eagle Creek but I can’t say for certain it is this particular trip.
Personally they look like the "Misfit Gang." At least Arlen and Gary are prepared with water. I see the one (who I still say is Dick) has the knife for protection. Right……………as he was terrified of a garter snake.

this was an excellent Explorer Post…..don’t think anyone did much rank advancement but Harvey Cardwell (hope I have his name right) was an excellent leader and we had some good times. one of my memories of this hike was Dennis Paddock and his cans of Dinty Moore stew….."perfect" food for a hike and the narrow ledge with grab rail. Gary was a neighbor on Belmont. thanks Bill for the loan and the memory jog…..
every day is a surprise on this site, thanks again Arthur.

That must of been the time Dick and Dennis blew up the cans of soup. One member went balistic about throwing stuff all over the forest. Didn’t he stop to think that after they left the chipmunks and birds had a wonderful dinner. Were you on the climb of Mt. Hood where Harvey Cardwell slipped and fell well down the mountain. Story was that when he was reached he was laying face down on his ice ax. Terror probably set in as they figured he was impaled and when they turned him over he had been saved from sudden death by the giant belt buckle. That is where his ice ax hit and he was knocked out of wind….
