Georgiana Florence (Pansy) Baker DeWitt is a favorite of mine from HHR photos. Always a sweet and gentle smile. She and Harry DeWitt were married September 1905 at her parents home at the corner of State Street and Park Avenue. The previous year, her 14 year old brother drowned in the Columbia spring flood waters while moving cattle just below the train depot. Her sister married Allyn Button.

Her brother, W.J.A. Baker, married my grandmother, Martha "Bobby" McMullin, Nickelsen Baker.

I can just visualize Pansy in the very latest of riding apparel going from Hood River, up through Pine Grove, up Fir Mountain for a two or three day visit with her special friend Mary Sidney at her ranch. I know they both loved horses and that Mary had quite a few and they rode those hills together when Pansy visited. Mary may have rode to town to visit at the DeWitt’s.
