Notes
Here’s the view down Oak Street from in front of the library, probably about the time the library was constructed (1913). You can make out the Paris Fair building at 4th and Oak (1906) and the Fashion Garage at the east end of Oak Street. The streets have not yet been paved, but sidewalks have been extended up to 5th Street.
This is part of a Frank Patterson stereo card pair. I don’t know much about Patterson, but he published stereo cards stamped “Frank Patterson, Stereo Photographer, Hood River” in this era. We’re lucky to have several of his cards.

Frank Patterson took photos all through Oregon and California. He had personally or was affiliated with studios at various times in Medford, Santa Rosa and San Fransisco. He took photos of things such as this Oak Street one, and thankfully he did, plus highways, lakes, tourist sights and various other things. He was 78 years old when he died in1961.

That horse is checking out the shadows in those bushes, wondering if it should be skittish, or just keep plodding along.

Is that the "Heritage Tree" on the library lawn? Probably not, but could be.

I don’t think this angle shows any of the "Heritage Trees" on the library lawn but we do have photos circa 1913 which should include them. I’ll have a look and try to post one soon.
