I think we have the answer to the question posted on the prior photo about riding the ferry back and forth between Oregon and Washington. It now appears that they must have camped there during the week at least. My guess is that they probably spent the week end in Hood River, since this group was from there.
Next question: Are they using horse and wagon or something motorized. Pretty early I would think for actual trucks. Any way to zoom in right in the middle of photo to see if that is some type of equipment, a little behind and to the left of the sand pile?

Behind the pile I can see two horses and a man on horseback.
I think it’s interesting that instead of excavating level building sites they built everything on platforms above the ground. There’s probably no trace of these buildings anymore.

Could that be due to water, meaning with all that voided landscape I would imagine in rainy weather it would get pretty mucky.
My guess is that the river is behind that line of trees along the ridge and naturally this camp would have been located above where the dam was being put in.
Thanks for tuning in on the horses. That gives up the answer to that one.

There were four camps connected with the building of Condit. I think this is camp 3.
Camp 3 was above the powerhouse.
The mess hall sat 250 men at seven tables measuring 33 to 35 feet in length.
Camp had a full time doctor a barbershop and a general supplies store.
