I’m sure there must be a story behind this one, but the caption just says this is Ellwood “Tweet” Samuel cooling his feet on Glisan Glacier May 30, 1965. The photo is by Bill Bryan.
Quite an interesting photo! Not everyone has that view of the clouds while they are out for a stroll.

I met Tweet once. Cool guy. Drove a old Cadillac if memory serves me. He was a Craig Rat.

Tweet was a fantastic person. I don’t think there was a person that knew him that didn’t like him…..He always seemed to have a great big smile on his face. He was the Crag Rat "Chef." He did a lot of the cooking for them. He used to go huckleberry picking with my Dad and "Doc" Edmundson over on Mt. Adams. Naturally they hiked in where only the bears knew where the best berries were.
Bill Bryan was naturally also a Crag Rat, who took many of the fantastic photos that exist of Crag Rat adventures……….
Who knows what possessed Tweet to be out there barefooted, but yes there would have been something quite interesting behind it…..

Arthur, do you have any pictures of ol’ Doc Eddy? Quite a character himself.
Arthur
@nels, that name doesn’t ring a bell but I will look for it next time I dive into the Crag Rats collection. I have many fun Crag Rats photos queued up already but I like to spread them out a bit.
